Israeli Ambassador Bass Commits to Visiting Karnali Before next year Following Meeting with Karnali Youth

Kathmandu, July 26: Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, held a meeting with Ashish Jaisi Devkota, a youth representative from Karnali, in Kathmandu on Friday.

The meeting focused on the Ambassador's proposed visit to Karnali Province, the expansion of modern agricultural technologies, strengthening Nepal - Israel cooperation in the agricultural sector, and creating greater opportunities for young people from Karnali to pursue higher education and employment in Israel.

During the discussion, Devkota reiterated the need for Israeli technical assistance to modernize agriculture in Karnali, particularly in Mugu District. He also requested support to increase educational opportunities for students from Karnali through programmes such as "Learn in Israel", as well as to expand employment opportunities for qualified Nepali youth in Israel. According to officials, the Embassy of Israel has shown a positive response, and the necessary coordination is already underway. Nepali students and workers continue to travel to Israel under various bilateral education and labor cooperation programmes between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed preparations for the Ambassador's proposed visit to Karnali before next year. Ambassador Bass shared his preliminary itinerary, which includes visits to Surkhet, Jumla and Rara Lake the largest natural lake in Nepal. He expressed his desire to experience Karnali's natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and the everyday lives of its people firsthand.

Ambassador Bass noted that he has already visited six of Nepal's provinces and said that Karnali is now among his top priorities. During the visit, he plans to meet with provincial and local government representatives, participate in cultural programmes and gain first-hand insight into the region's development potential.

Subject to favorable weather conditions, Ambassador Bass reaffirmed his commitment to visiting Karnali Province before next year.
