Butwal-Gorusinghe road hits 28 % completion
Twenty-eight per cent of the construction work on the Butwal-Gorusinghe Road Project has been completed in one year and eight months since the project began. Construction commenced on October 20, 2024, with the project scheduled for completion by October 19, 2027. However, construction has recently been affected by the monsoon. According to the Butwal Project Office, 66 of the 166 culverts planned under the project have been completed. Of the 30 bridges to be constructed, work on five has reached the final stage.

Commercial pineapple farming yields higher returns from small plots
Fifty-one-year-old farmer Ganesh Poudel of Jahada, Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-5 in Morang began commercial pineapple farming for the first time in March 2025. He planted 12,000 pineapple saplings on eight katthas of land that had previously been used to grow three crops a year—paddy, maize and mustard. At the beginning, Poudel admits, the venture felt like a gamble. Paddy depended entirely on rainfall, monkeys frequently damaged the maize crop, and mustard barely covered production costs. Determined to find a more profitable alternative, he decided to invest in a cash crop despite the risks.

Three artisans receive Gharapjhong Kavyayatra Honour-2083
Three artisans from Gharapjhong Rural Municipality in Mustang, who have dedicated themselves to preserving traditional skills and craftsmanship, were awarded the Gharapjhong Poetry Tour Honour–2083. The award was presented during a poetry tour organised to promote the natural, cultural, and tourism potential of Gharapjhong Rural Municipality through literary tourism. The recipients were 75-year-old blacksmith Saila BK of Chimang, 62-year-old traditional tailor Kumari Nepali of Jomsom, and 72-year-old woodcraft artisan Man Prasad BK of Syang. Significant progress made in education sector: Ministry
Since the formation of the government led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party, significant progress has been made in reforming the examination system, improving university governance, expanding digital services, and enhancing public service delivery. The Ministry of Education and Sports has prioritised making examinations from secondary to university level more time-bound, streamlining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) process for overseas study, freeing universities from partisan political interference and expanding digital services.
Susta delegation meets Home Minister Gurung
Residents of the Susta area in Nawalparasi (West) are staging a protest in Kathmandu, demanding border security, citizenship, land ownership certificates and the protection of their land and identity. They have been holding a peaceful sit-in at Maitighar Mandala for the past three days, calling on the government to guarantee their basic rights. Claiming that they have lived on Nepali soil for generations but have been neglected by the state both legally and administratively, the protesters travelled to the capital carrying pots filled with soil from Susta as a symbolic gesture. They have urged the government to take notice of their concerns and provide a long-term solution to their problems.
Security forces launch patrols in disputed Humla–Bajura pasture region
A joint security base camp established at Lampata following the border dispute between Bajura and Humla districts has begun regular patrols in the Rani Kharka to maintain law and order and reassure herders from both districts who are grazing livestock in the area. According to Ram Bahadur Bohara of Rayan village, Kharpunath Rural Municipality–3, who has been rearing sheep in the Khani Kharka area, security personnel deployed at the joint base camp, comprising the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force Nepal (APF), have started patrolling the Rani Kharka region. He said the presence of security forces has given local herders a greater sense of safety.
