Doctor's mass resignation in Narayani Hospital

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 28: The doctors of Narayani Hospital, Birjung have submitted resignation in mass today.   

Spokesperson and Information Officer of the hospital, Dr. Udaynarayan Singh has informed that 68 doctors have submitted their resignation to Acting Medical Superintendent Dr. Chitaranjan Shah.   

The medical service were disrupted after 45-year-old Rajkumar Patel, a resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City-25, died during treatment on Saturday, his family members and relatives accused doctors of negligence in treatment and assaulted Dr Pramod Ram, a medical officer working in the emergency room. 

Dr Ram is being treated in National Trauma Centre, Kathmandu. The doctors have stopped medical service except for emergency unit in the protest. 

The resignation came after the tension further intensified during the discussion between the medical doctors, Chief District Administration and Chief of the Police.    

Nepal Medical Association has announced to stopped medical service on Tuesday except the emergency service.
