Madan Krishna Shrestha to perform in Paleti

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, July 29: Singer and comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha is set to perform at this month’s Paleti, a musical programme. 

Shrestha will share the stage with his son, Yaman Shrestha. Shrestha last performed at Paleti 18 years ago.

According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, Shrestha will sing both his well-known classics and some of his newer songs.

His popular songs include ‘Arabau Manchheharuma,’ ‘Kholawari Kholapari,’ ‘Phulbutte Sari and Sayathari Baja,’ which remain favourites among the audience.

Although he is best known as one half of the famous comedy duo with Hari Bansha Acharya, Shrestha began his career as a singer. In his early years, he performed his songs on Radio Nepal as well as on All India Radio and Doordarshan in India.

Despite facing health challenges in recent years, he has remained active in both music and films. His more recent songs, including ‘Birside Bhanchhau Mayalu’ and ‘Pahad Bho Malai,’ have also been well received by audiences.

Another highlight of this month's programme will be singer Yaman Shrestha. Guided by his father, Yaman has built a career in comedy, singing and music. He enjoys performing both satirical and serious songs.

Some of Yaman’s popular songs include ‘Yo Man Badalna Chahanna,’  ‘Jindagima Sayad Maile,’  Naulo Basti Dekhe Jaha and Manchhele Kina Manchhelai Marchha. He also composes the tunes for most of the songs he sings.

Madan Krishna said, "I performed at Paleti 18 years ago and it was a wonderful experience. This time, I have my son with me, so I hope it will be even more enjoyable. Audiences have always supported me, and I am confident they will enjoy this performance as well,” as mentioned in the press release. 

Yaman said, “The rehearsals for Paleti have already been so much fun, so the concert will be even better,” as mentioned in the press release. 

The Paleti programme will take place on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, in Kathmandu
