Seven books on children's literature released together

Kathmandu, July 26: Seven books on children's literature have been released together.     

Former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Prof Kedar Bhakta Mathema and other guests launched a collection of stories for children at a program jointly organized by Hami Dajubhai, British Council and Children's Literature and Research Center here today.     

On the occasion, seven collections of stories were released, including Shanti Sapkota's 'Mitini', Sanjog Thakuri's 'Mamighar', Hansawati Kurmi's 'Indreni', Sushila Tamang's 'Aitiko Bihe', Asmita Badi's 'Haitamako Himmat', Bina Thing's 'Naamko Katha' and Sangita Urao's 'Surjiko Ujjaya'.     

At the program, Mathema said that children should be guided towards reading as the horizon of knowledge of those who read broadens.     

At the program, writer Pramod Pradhan said that stories from the Himalayas, Tarai and western Nepal are rarely written in children's literature.     

At the program, Prof. Dr. Taranidhi Bhattarai, Center President Ananta Wagle, writer Ganga Karmacharya Poudel, artist Anamika Gautam, social activist Gauri Nepali, British Council's Yukta Khadka Acharya, school-level girl duo Sarla Acharya and Priya Thapa, among others, shed light on the state of the story genre in children's literature.(RSS)
