Li-Ning to sponsor Pushpalal Memorial Badminton

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, July 26: The National Badminton Association (NBA) Nepal has announced that leading sports equipment brand Li-Ning will sponsor the upcoming 14th Pushpalal Memorial National Ranking Badminton Tournament, set to take place in Lalitpur from 10–15 August.

The event, hosted at Yala Sports Academy, Gwarko, will feature 400 players from 60 districts and three departmental teams competing across 15 categories, including singles, doubles, youth divisions, and masters events.

NBA General Secretary Sunil Man Shakya confirmed the sponsorship deal, adding that international participation is expected in the Masters doubles. The tournament will also welcome Wajid Ali Chaudhry, President of the Pakistan Badminton Association and a member of the Badminton World Federation.

With a budget of Rs.  4.15 million and prize money totalling Rs. 1.078 million, the competition promises high stakes. Winners of three consecutive editions will receive a motorbike or scooter, a feat previously achieved by Prince Dahal. The title winner in the Seeded singles in men’s and women’s category will bag a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 while in the Non-seeded singles category, the title winners in men’s and women’s category will take home Rs. 30, 000.
