Landslides in Bajura

13 displaced families relocated in safe place

By Sher Bahadur Sarki, Bajura, July 24: At least 13 families have been displaced as floods and landslide debris entered their settlement at Selaghat in Badimalika Municipality-9.

Naresh Bahadur Shahi, information officer at the Bajura district police office, said that members of the households under the imminent risk of landslides were taken to safer place.

The people were transferred to a safe place as landslides kept falling over the settlement due to incessant rainfall since this morning.

Shahi said that although landslides caused damage to the houses, essentials such as daily consumption goods, grains, clothes and utensils were taken out of the houses and kept in the safe place.

A woman, 30-year-old Parbati Thapa, fell unconscious when flood entered her house and she was rescued and then taken to Bajura district hospital for treatment, according to information officer Shahi.

The district administration office, Bajura, said arrangement to keep the displaced in a safe place was made and steps were taken to provide the displaced people with utensils and food item.
