By Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, Jhapa, July 23: Land ownership certificates have been distributed to 18 landless families in Arjundhara Municipality.
The certificates were distributed today by the Land
Problem Settlment Committee formed by the incumbent government.
Earlier, five families of Buddhshanti Rural
Municipality-5 of Jhapa district were provided with the land ownership
certificate while on July 2, squatters were provided with the land ownership certificate in Bardiya.
Speaking at the certificate distribution programme
at Arjundhara, former Deputy Speaker and Member of House of Representatives from
Jhapa-2 Indira Rana Magar, also a lawmaker from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra
Party (RSP), termed it a historic for landless people as they were happy and
getting land ownership certificate.
She viewed that the land ownership will enhance security, self-respect and self-reliance of the landless and that the government wanted to see happy faces of the people.
The RSP lawmaker underlined the need to carry out
the land ownership certificate distribution campaign more effectively, and that
all needed to join hands for this.
Shiva Ram Gelal, Jhapa CDO and chairman of Committee to Solve Land Problem, Jhapa, said the certificate distribution will continue across the district as land ownership certificates were distributed with due process and upholding criteria by taking ownership of the works done by the previous commission.
