By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, July 22: The Nepal Everest Film Festival 2026 Awards Ceremony, organised under the Everest International Film Festival China, was held at the Film Development Board in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Awards and cash prizes were presented to outstanding films and filmmakers in various categories.
A total of 21 films participated in the festival, with six shortlisted for the final competition. The selected films were honoured across several award categories.
‘Hostel 3’ won the Best Editing award and received a cash prize of US dollar 1,000. Likewise, ‘Mahajatra’ secured the Best Cinematography award, also receiving US dollar 1,000.
Actress Meruna Magar was named Best Actress for her performance in ‘Kabaddi 4’ and received US dollar 1,000, while Deepak Raj Giri won the Best Actor award for ‘Chhakka Panja.’
Director Shankar Ghimire won the Best Director award for ‘Tel Visa,’ along with a cash prize of US dollar 2,000.
Meanwhile, ‘Anjila’ was named Best Feature Film, receiving the festival’s top cash prize of US dollar 4,000.
Speakers at the event said that international film festivals play an important role in expanding the global reach of Nepali cinema, recognising the creative achievements of filmmakers, and strengthening cultural ties between Nepal and China.
