ADB and Huawei join hands to advance smart education

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 20: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Huawei Nepal, in partnership with Vishwa Niketan Secondary School, have launched a Smart Classroom and Student Scientific Inquiry Skill Development Workshop to demonstrate how digital means can transform learning and make quality education more accessible for students across Nepal.

Established in 1959, Vishwa Niketan Secondary School located in Tripureswore, Kathmandu is one of Nepal's oldest and most respected public educational institutions, with a long history of academic excellence and educational innovation.

By partnering with a school that has shaped generations of Nepali students, the initiative aims to create a model that can inspire the wider adoption of Smart Education across the country, the press release from Huawei issued on Sunday read.

The program goes beyond introducing digital classroom technology. It creates Nepal's first collaborative Smart Education platform connecting an urban school with schools outside the Kathmandu Valley, enabling students and teachers to learn together through live scientific inquiry sessions, interactive classrooms, and real-time knowledge exchange.

Through Huawei's Smart Classroom solution, students in remote schools will gain access to quality science learning, interactive digital resources, and collaborative activities with Vishwa Niketan students, while teachers from both schools can exchange teaching experiences, share best practices, and jointly deliver engaging lessons.

The initiative demonstrates how technology can bridge educational gaps by connecting classrooms rather than simply digitizing them.

Huawei's Smart Education vision focuses on three priorities: bridging the urban-rural education divide, empowering teachers with intelligent digital tools, and continuously improving learning through data-driven insights.
